Tarique Rahman stands by cricketer Emon’s insolvent family

DHAKA, Jan 02, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting chairman and chief patron of 'Amra BNP Paribar', has stood by insolvent family of Under-19 Asia Cup winning cricketer Md Iqbal Hasan Emon. 

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Chief Adviser of 'Amra BNP Paribar' Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed handed over two electronic auto-rickshaws as gifts from Tarique Rahman to Emon's father Md. Bakar Mia at a simple ceremony on Humayun Rashid Chattar premises in Sylhet, said a press release of BNP here today.

Amra BNP Paribar convener and BNP Media Cell convener Atiqur Rahman Rumon chaired the meeting which was attended by BNP Standing Committee member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Chairperson's Adviser Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, BNP National Executive Committee Organizing Secretary GK Gaus, BNP's Science and Technology Affairs Assistant Secretary Engineer Ashraf Uddin Bakul, National Executive Committee Assistant Organizing Secretaries Kalim Uddin Milon and Miftah Siddiqui, National Executive Committee member Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Moulvibazar District BNP former President M Naser Rahman, Sylhet City BNP acting President Rezaul Hasan Kayes Lodi were present, among others.

Sylhet District BNP General Secretary Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, Sylhet City BNP Assistant General Secretary Emdad Hossain Chowdhury and Qatar BNP General Secretary and Moulvibazar District BNP former adviser Shariful Haque Saju, also a prominent businessman, jointly conducted the programme.

Iqbal Hasan Emon gained nationwide fame due to his excellent performance in Under-19 Asia Cup Cricket. His father Bakar Mia is a day laborer from Karimpur village of Moulvibazar district.
