Qatar Navy Chief leaves Dhaka after two-day official visit

DHAKA, Jan 6, 2025 (BSS) - Qatar Navy Chief of Staff Major General (Sea) Abdullah Hassan MA Al-Sulaiti today left Dhaka wrapping up his two-day official visit. 

Earlier, he arrived here yesterday on a two-day visit.

As a part of the visit, Qatar Navy Chief today paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan at the Naval Headquarters in Banani, a release of the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said this evening.

On his arrival at Bangladesh Naval Headquarters, the Chief of Naval Staff of Qatar was welcomed by the Assistant Chief of Naval Operations. 

A well-armed team of the naval force presented him (Qatar Navy Chief) a “guard of honour”.  He also inspected the guard and took the salute. 

Exchanging pleasantries with the Bangladesh Navy Chief, the visiting Qatar Navy Chief discussed different professional affairs and training issues of the navy between the two countries, the ISPR release mentioned. 

During the meeting, he (Qatar Navy Chief) expressed the hope that the bilateral mutual cooperation would continue for strengthening the existing relationship between the naval forces of Bangladesh and Qatar in days to come.

Among others, APSOs of Naval Headquarters, senior officers of Qatar Navy and other officials including the Charge d'Affaires of the Qatar Embassy were present on the occasion. 

Earlier, Qatar Navy Chief paid tribute to the members of the armed forces, who embraced martyrdom in the Great War of Independence in 1971, by laying wreaths at the Shikha Anirban (flame eternal) at Dhaka Cantonment.

He had a courtesy call on the Army Chief, Air Chief and the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division.
