Jubo League leader Sohagh remanded in mass uprising killing case

DHAKA, Jan 07, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today placed Awami Jubo League (JL) central organizing secretary Shamim Al Saiful Sohagh on one-day remand in a case, filed over the killing of one Md Parvez Miah in Jatrabari area during   July-August mass-uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ragib Noor passed the order as police produced Sohagh before the court and pleaded to place him on a 10-day remand.

Police arrested the Jubo League leader from the capital’s Banani area on November 11 and sent him to jail in a murder case filed with Banani Police Station.

According to the case documents, Md Parvez Miah joined anti-discrimination rally on August 5 in Jatrabari area. He was shot at around 5 pm and  was first taken to Mugda Medical College Hospital and was later rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where attending doctors declared him dead.

The case was filed with the Jatrabari Police Station on October 29.
