5 killed in Faridpur train-microbus collision

FARIDPUR, Jan 7, 2025 (BSS) - Five people were killed and two others injured 
as a train hit a microbus at Munsibazar Kafura level-crossing in Sadar 
upazila here today.

Among the deceased three were identified. They are Liton Chowdhury, Fahmida 
Sharmin Manu and Saju, residents of Bhuiyanpara-Shahpuja road in Narayanganj 
Sadar upazila.
 
The accident occurred when a train hit a microbus in the area around 12 noon 
while it was crossing the rail track, said Jafar Iqbal, inspector of Faridpur 
Kotwali Police Station.

The microbus got smashed as the train dragged the microbus 100-150 yards 
along the tracks, he said.

Three people died on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries 
after being taken to the hospital, the Inspector added.

The injured were sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Faridpur Medical College 
Hospital morgue.
