Three fake ACC officials remanded

DHAKA, Jan 7, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed three frauds, who went to the headquarters of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) posing as its investigation officers, on a three-day remand each in a cyber security act case.

The three remanded accused are Md Rafikul Islam Samrat, executive director of so-called 'Durniti Nibaron Sohayok Sangstha', its director (operation) Md Raihan alias Syed Raihan and its official Solaiman Mufti.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the order as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand each.

The frauds were detained from ACC headquarters on January 6. ACC assistant director Sazzad Hossain filed the case under the cyber security act.

According to the case documents, the accused used to raid public and private offices, posing as ACC officials and extort money from the victims. At times, they used to pose as officials of an agency under ACC, conducting illegal raids.
