Murder fugitive convict arrested in Panchagarh

DHAKA, Jan 7, 2025 (BSS) - Police has arrested a fugitive convict in connection with a murder case filed over killing his wife from Sakua Bazar Dhanhati area in Boda Thana of Panchagarh district. 

The arrestee was Kamal Lal, said a press release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) here today.

On a tip-off, a team of Badda Thana police raided the area and arrested Kamal Lal who went on hiding soon after the incident.

According to case story, Kamal stabbed his wife Bithi Akther, 24, with knife along with two or three accomplices in DIT Project area of Merul Badda on September 16 in 2024. Later, Bithi succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Victim’s mother Helena Akther filed a case accusing Kamal Lal and unidentified two to three others on September 17.
