Qamrul, Palak, Mamun shown arrested in fresh cases

DHAKA, Jan 8, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed arrested former food minister Advocate Qamrul Islam, former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun in fresh cases.

Of the three, Qamrul was shown arrested in a murder case filed with the Lalbagh Police Station, Mamun was shown arrested in two murder cases filed with Bhashantek Police Station and Jatrabari Police Station respectively and Palak was shown arrested in a case filed with Kafrul Police Station under Cyber Security Act.

Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed the orders as police produced the trio before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in these cases. After that the accused were sent back to jail.

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Qamrul Islam from the capital's Uttara-12 area on November 18, while Palak was arrested from city's Nikunjo residential area on August 14.

Former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was arrested on September 3.
