DHAKA, Jan 8, 2025 (BSS) – Senior Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said the people of Bangladesh have not taken positively extension of ousted prime minster Sheikh Hasina’s visa by India.

“Being a democratic country, India has extended Sheikh Hasina’s visa to keep her (in India), the people of Bangladesh have not taken it positively. Where there is democracy, there is the rule of law. India doesn’t comply with the rule of law in case of Bangladesh,” he said.

He came up with the opinion while extending financial aid to the family members of a 10th grade student of Shaheed Gendaria Adarsha School Shahriar Khan Anas, who was killed in an attack during the anti-discrimination student movement in the city’s Gendaria.

Rizvi said India has always been working with an aggressive attitude towards Bangladesh.

The senior BNP leader questioned the interim government why it is not taking legal steps against the members of law enforcement agencies who shot dead many adolescent, children and youths during the students-people movement in broad daylight.

He became emotional after reading out the letter of Anas, who was killed in an attack on the protesters during the July uprising, saying, “After reading the letter, I have found that the children are highly devoted towards the country and its people. I am amazed after seeing such a determination in the letter at this age.”

Rizvi read out the letter in front of all and said, “I consider my life insignificant after reading the letter. We have become insignificant to the sacrifice of the people during the July-August mass uprising.”

The BNP leader said Sheikh Hasina’s police killed the innocent children only to keep Awami League in power.

“Fascist Sheikh Hasina didn’t hesitate to commit any crimes to make her family members and close ones richer,” he remarked.

Rizvi called upon those, who are still shedding crocodile tears for Sheikh Hasina, to hear the scream of Anas’s family.

“I have nothing to say rather to express hatred towards those who are shedding crocodile tears for Sheikh Hasina,” he added.

The senior BNP leader has demanded immediate trial of those who took arms against the students-people and renamed all the establishments after the names of July-August martyrs erasing the names of Sheikh Hasin’s cohorts.

“Amra BNP Paribar” Convenour Atikur Rahman Rumon, Secretary General Moksedul Momin Mithun, adviser Ashraf Bakul, assistant organizing secretary of BNP Prof Aminul Islam, member Hamidur Rahman Hamid, Swechachhasebak Dal vice-president Zahidul Kabir, BNP leader Zakir Hossain, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal vice-president Awal, among others, were present.
