Jammat’s Ctg Ameer calls for effective plan to solve water logging problem

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 8, 2025 (BSS) – Ameer of Chattogram City Unit Jamaat-e-Islami Alhaj Shajahan Chowdhury here today stressed the need for taking effective measures to solve the water-logging problem in the port city before the monsoon season starts.

He was speaking at a joint meeting with city Jamaat and ‘Amra Chatganbasi’ – a citizen’s forum at the party office today.
 
Chowdhury, also the former whip, termed the water logging problem as man-made disaster, and said effective measures should be taken to deal with the problem before the next monsoon.
 
Besides, he said, unplanned urbanization and illegal encroachment of canals and drains were responsible for the failure to complete mega projects to this end. He also emphasized the need for speedy completion of ongoing mega projects instead of taking new ones.

He, however, said time befitting new master plan for the city, giving priority to solve the city floods, is essential to solve sufferings of the inhabitants.
 
To get relief from various civic problems, the Amra Chatgavbashi leaders demanded the CCC mayor to take urgent initiatives with involvement of concern utility providing agencies to prepare new master for the sustainable development of the city.

Secretary General of the ‘Amra Chatganbasi’ A B M Imran placed a 19-point development proposal in the meeting.

Secretary General of City Unit Jamaat principal Mohammad Nurul Ameen, assistant secretary Mohammad Ullah, assistant secretary general of ‘Amra Chatganbasi’ journalist Nazim Uddin Shyamol, co-ordinator of research cell Wasi Uddin Ansari, journalist Kamrul Huda, Dr Fazlul Haque Siddiqi, Uttom Kumar Achrya and Eng. Abdul Baten, among others, took part in the discussion.
