DHAKA, Jan 9, 2025 (BSS) – Novoair, one of Bangladesh’s private airlines, celebrated its 12th anniversary today with plans to launch six new international routes as part of its expansion strategy.

“Initially, we plan to launch flights to three destinations in Southeast Asia - Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore - and three destinations in the Middle East - Dubai, Sharjah, and Muscat,” Novoair Managing Director Mofizur Rahman said here.

Rahman revealed the expansion plans during an interaction with a delegation of executive committee of the Aviation and Tourism Journalists Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB) comprised with its president Tanzim Anwar and General Secretary Baten Biplob at the airline’s headquarters in Banani.

To support the new routes, Rahman said Novoair is preparing to invest in three additional aircraft.

However, challenges persist in leasing aircraft. “We are exploring options to procure either Boeing B737 or Airbus A321 aircraft, depending on availability,” he added.

On the occasion of the anniversary, Rahman expressed gratitude to the airline's business partners, passengers, and stakeholders.

He reaffirmed Novoair’s dedication to safety and service, emphasizing that its business philosophy prioritizes on-time flight operations and passenger safety.

Currently, Novoair operates daily domestic flights connecting Dhaka to Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Jashore, Saidpur, and Rajshahi. While its international flights to Kolkata are temporarily suspended, the airline plans to resume them soon.

Novoair began operations on January 9, 2013, with its inaugural flight on the Dhaka-Chattogram route.

Over the past 12 years, the airline has operated more than 100,000 flights and served over 7.5 million passengers.

In addition to its operational achievements, Novoair has introduced several innovations to enhance customer experience, including the country’s first frequent flyer programme, “SMILES,” co-branded cards, a mobile app for ticket purchases, and web check-in services.
