Detectives arrest two along with yaba from Jatrabari

DHAKA, Jan 11, 2025 (BSS) - Detective police has arrested a bus driver and his helper along with 4,000 pieces of yaba tablets conducting a drive in city's Jatrabari area.

"Detective Branch (DB) Police arrested the duo on charges of transporting illegal drugs by a passenger bus and recovered the yaba pills from their possessions," a Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) police official said today.

He said the arrested persons are identified as bus driver Md Zakir Hossain (45) and helper Md Shahin Chowkidar (30).

A Cantonment zonal team of the DB-Gulshan Division of DMP conducted a raid at Janpath intersection of Sayedabad area yesterday morning and arrested them along with yaba tablets.

Police sources said the DB team halted the bus named 'Saint Martin Road Master' bound to Dhaka from Cox's Bazar responding to a secret information and recovered yaba tablets from the bus.
 
The arrestee bus helper told the police that they brought yaba from Cox's Bazar.

A case was lodged with Jatrabari Police Station against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
