Hasina, Joy, 91 others sued over attempt to murder lawyer

DHAKA, Jan 12, 2025 (BSS) – A case was filed against 93 people including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy allegedly for attempting to murder Dhaka Bar Council Member Adv Nupur Akhter.
 
 The victim filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifur Rahman. The court after recording the statement of the complainant, asked Mohammadpur Police Station to file the matter as a first information report (FIR).
 
The other prominent accused in the case are- Obaidul Quader, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Hasanul Haque Inu, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Nasrul Hamid Bipu, Mohammad A Arafat and Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
 
According to the case documents, Adv Nupur Akhter joined the anti-discrimination student movement rally in Mohammadpur area on August 4. At 3 pm, the rally came under attack as Nupur received injuries on her head and left hand. As she went to a nearby hospital to receive treatment, Awami League “goons” made her to go back, denying her medical care.
 
 She received medication from a local doctor. Recently Adv Nupur Akhter became seriously ill, as she went to the hospital, the doctor found a piece of shrapnel still stuck in her skull. The shrapnel was removed through an operation on December 17.
