DHAKA, Jan 14, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed Benazir Hossain Nishi,
former joint general secretary of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), on
a two-day remand in a case lodge for assaulting students of Dhaka University
(DU) during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the order as police
produced Nishi before the court and pleaded to place her on a 10-day remand
in the case.

According to the case documents, cadres of Awami League and its front
organisations launched a vicious attack on the students on DU premises on
July 15. More than 300 students got injured in the attack.

DU student Arman Hossain filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on
October 28 against 220 people including BCL president Saddam Hossain.
