Indian citizen held with 18 gold bars in Meherpur

MEHERPUR, Jan 14, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested an Indian citizen along with 18 gold bars from frontier area Mujibnagar Field this noon.

The arrestee was Nur Hossain, 48, son of Sonai Sheikh, a resident of Hridoypur village under Chapra Thana in Nadia district, India.

On a tip-off, a BGB team from BGB-6 Battalion conducted a drive in the area and arrested Nur Hossain. The team also recovered the gold bars after searching his body, said Rafikul Islam, Nayek Subeder of Mujibnagar BOP Camp.

A case was filed in this connection, said Mijanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mujibnagar police station.
