Ex-NBR member Matiur Rahman, his wife arrested in city

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police today arrested  former member of National Board of Revenue (NBR) Motiur Rahman and his wife former Upazila chairman Laila Kaniz from the city's Bashundhara area.

"We arrested the couple early hours of today in specific charges as they were accused in number of cases," DB Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman told BSS.

Matiur became a subject of controversy due to a high-profile sacrificial goat.

The arrestees will be sent to the court today.

Matiur was accused in number of cases, including two graft cases, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on charges of amassing wealth illegally on December 15, 2024.
