Abductor held, teenage victim rescued from Ashulia in Dhaka

RANGPUR, Jan 15, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an 
absconding abductor and rescued a kidnapped teenage girl of Hatibandha 
upazila in Lalmonirhat from Kumkumari area in Ashulia Thana of Dhaka on 
Tuesday.
 
"The arrested abductor is Md Shahria Nafiz, 22, son of Md Shariful Islam of 
village Purbo Fakirpara in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district," said 
a press release issued by Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13 Flight 
Lieutenant Md Saifullah Nayeem today.
 
The arrested accused with his two to three accomplices forcibly abducted the 
victim from her house in the morning on February 10, 2024.
 
Later, the victim's father filed a case in this connection with Hatibandha 
police station of Lalmonirhat district. 
 
The incident created a sensation in the area and came to the notice of the 
Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-2 of Nilphamari Camp of RAB-13. 
 
Alongside the police, CPC-2 of RAB-13 enforced intelligence activities and 
started a shadow investigation into the case to nab the absconding accused 
rapist.
 
On a tip off, an operational team of the CPC of RAB-13 jointly with the CPC-2 
of RAB-4 at Savar conducted a raid in Kumkumari area and arrested the prime 
accused of the case Shahria Nafiz and rescued the victim on Tuesday.
 
The elite force handed the arrested person and rescued victim to Hatibandha 
police station in Lalmonirhat district, the release added.
