Anisul, Dipu Moni, 7 others shown arrested in fresh cases

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed nine people, including Anisul Huq and Dr Dipu Moni, arrested in cases lodged with different police stations in the capital over crimes committed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

The other people, who were shown arrested today, are- Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury, Lt Col (retd) Mohammad Faruk Khan, Hazi Mohammad Salim, Solaiman Salim, former police ADC Jewel Rana and Jubo League leader Abdur Rouf.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the orders as police produced the nine accused before the court pleading to show them arrested in the cases.

Of the nine, Dr Dipu Moni, Palak, Hazi Salim and Faruk Khan were shown arrested in a murder case filed with the Adabor Police Station in the capital, while Palak and Jewel Rana were shown arrested in a murder attempt case filed with the New Market Police Station. Anisul Huq and Solaiman Salim were shown arrested in another murder attempt case filed with the Kotwali Police Station, while Justice Chowdhury was shown arrested in a murder case filed with the Gulshan Police Station.

Gazipur Shreepur City Jubo League president Abdur Rouf was shown arrested in a murder case filed with Hatirjheel Police Station.
