Committee formed for feasibility study on Bilonia, Ramgarh land ports

DHAKA, Jan 15, 2025 (BSS)- The government has formed a committee to assess the feasibility of Bilonia and Ramgarh land ports.

Bangladesh Land Port Authority (BLPA) has framed the 10-member committee following the directives of Shipping Adviser Brig Gen (retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain, said a ministry press release today.

Shipping ministry Additional Secretary Md Muhidul Islam is the convenor of the committee while BLPA Member (Traffic) assigned as member secretary.

Representatives of ministries of shipping, commerce, defense, and foreign, roads and highways division, finance division, and national board of revenue are the members of the committee.

The committee will visit the land ports and conduct study on geographical locations, inter-distance of the ports, communication facilities, volume of export and import, revenue income, arrangements of arrival and departure and financial viability.

The committee will submit detail report with opinion and recommendation to the ministry within next 15 days.

While visiting the development activities of Ramgarh land ports in Khagrachhari District on January 12, the shipping adviser issued the directive to form the committee.
