Obaidul Quader’s so called foster son Hiru sent to jail

DHAKA, Jan 16, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today sent to jail Asaduzzaman Hiru, so called foster son of Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, in a case lodged over murder of one Toufikul Islam Bhuiyan during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order as police produced Hiru before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars.

Hiru was arrested from the city’s Gulshan area on January 15.

Pedestrian Toufikul Islam Bhuiyan, 43, got shot in front of Badda Buddhist Temple on July 19. He died on the spot. Toufikul’s widow Ismat Jahan Elora filed the case on August 21 against 113 including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
