MAGURA, Jan 16, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e Islami central Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today expressed hope that his party would build up a humanitarian society in the country along with all Islamic parties if they are elected.

“Jamaat-e Islami has been working for building a nation based on humanity and justice…if the party comes to power with the mandate of the people, the party will form humanitarian nation and society along with all the Islamic parties”, he said.

The Jamaat chief expressed his desire while addressing a party workers council as the chief guest at Nomani Maidan this noon.

If Jamaat comes to power, Dr Shafique said, Justice, equality and human values will be established in the country, adding “We want a happy and prosperous Bangladesh where people’s rights would be ensured  and Islamic human values would be established in every steps of the society.”

Criticizing the role of the immediate past ousted government led by  Awami League, the Jamaat leader said nearly Taka 26 lakh crore have been siphoned off from Bangladesh during the last 15 years and he termed it a ‘terrible signal’ for the nation.

The ousted regime had protected their own interest after damaging the financial infrastructure of the country, he said.

“If that amount could have been used for the development activities of the country, then Bangladesh would become a prosperous and a self-reliant nation”, Dr Shafique told the function.

“But now the people of the country are passing their days amid jobless, poverty and unstable conditions”, he added.

Expressing deep concern over the present situation of the country, the Jamaat Ameer said the common people are now being confronted with poverty due to the occurrences of huge laundering of wealth from Bangladesh.

Those were involved with the plundering of the hard earned resources of the country, they committed a big treachery with the people, the pro-Islamist party leader said.

The programme also was attended, among others, by central Majlis-e Shura member Maulana Azizur Rahman, central secretary of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Nurul Islam Saddam and Jamaat-e Islami executive council member Mubarak Hossain.
