RANGPUR, Jan 17, 2025 (BSS)- Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur has said the Awami League (AL) has no moral right to do politics in the country as the party itself dug its own grave.

“The misrule of the Awami regime has endangered the country’s independence and sovereignty, making the student-people uprising inevitable,” he said.

Nur said this while inaugurating the Rangpur district and metropolitan office of Gono Odhikar Parishad here today.

Nur said the behaviour of the leaders and activists of some political parties has become like that of Awami fascists, making people anxious and worried.

Laying importance on July Proclamation, he said the declaration is very much needed to give legal, political and constitutional legitimacy to the mass uprising, which was not just for an election.

Nur said, the student-people mass uprising was aimed at building a Bangladesh in line with the people's hope and aspiration.

After holding talks with the political parties on the proposals of the reform commissions, the government would present a complete outline of the state reform, he hoped saying after implementing those reforms the interim government would go for election.

Acting president of the district Gono Odhikar Parishad Sher E Khoda Asadullah presided over the function.

Senior Vice-president of Gono Odhikar Parishad Faruk Hasan, spokesperson Hanif Khan Sajeeb, Rangpur divisional organizing secretary Masud Rana Monnaf, executive member of Rangpur district unit Haji Kamal Hossain and leaders of its Rangpur district, metropolitan, upazila, youth, workers and associate bodies were present.
