Fraudster arrested for extortion in name of CA’s ex-colleague

DHAKA, Jan 19, 2025 (BSS) – Police on Saturday arrested a fraudster on charges of deceiving and extorting various people, including police officers by sometimes impersonating himself  a former colleague of the Chief Adviser, sometimes a journalist, and sometimes an important political figure.

The arrested has been identified as Kamal Khan alias Shah Kamal Khan (46).

Police arrested the fraudster with the help of traffic police from Ranimahal area under Demra Police Station around 12:35pm yesterday, said a police press release.

Kamal is a professional fraudster and he confessed his crimes during the initial interrogation after the arrest that he has been extorting various people including police officers by identifying him as a former colleague of the Chief Adviser, a journalist of various renowned newspapers and an influential political figure.

The arrested person was sent to the court.
