ACC wants ex-BFIU chief on 7-day remand, hearing on Jan 26

DHAKA, Jan 19, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today set January 26 for holding 
hearing on a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) pleading 
to place Masud Biswas, former head of the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence 
Unit (BFIU), on a seven-day remand in a graft case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order 
as Investigation Officer ACC Assistant Director Sazzad Hossain filed the plea 
before the court.

An ACC team led by its Deputy Director Md Gulshan Anwar detained Masud Biswas 
from his house in the capital's Senpara Porbota area in Mirpur-10 on January 
17. 

The anti-graft body on January 2 filed the case against the former BFIU chief 
for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 1.87 crore.
