GOPALGANJ, Jan 21, 2025 (BSS) - The Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) today conducted a raid at Savana Eco Park and Resort owned by former inspector general of police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.

CIC directors Md. Tariq Iqbar and Wakil Ahmed led the 15-member team to raid the resort in the morning as the team has found evidence of a huge amount of tax evasion.

NBR officials have examined the hard disks of several computers and a large number of documents.

They said this operation was mainly to scrutinise the information given in the wealth statement.

CIC Deputy Director Shah Md. Fazle Rahi said, "Our next step will be to review all the documents and send the final report to the tax office. The tax office will later take action in this regard."

Benazir Ahmed, while serving as the Director General of RAB from 2015 to 2020 and Inspector General of Police from 2020 to 2022, built this resort and park on 621 bighas of land in Bairagitol village of Gopalganj.
