SYLHET, Feb 13, 2025 (BSS) – Jatiya Nagorik Committee spokesperson Samantha Sharmin today said banning Awami League verbally for the July-August genocide will not be enough rather it should be banned in political and judicial process.

"Sheikh Hasina should be brought back to the country to expose her to face capital punishment for her crimes. Those who were directly or indirectly involved in the genocide should be brought to justice," she told reporters at Kabi Nazrul auditorium in Sylhet.

Samantha Sharmin participated in the Sylhet divisional representative meeting of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee.

She said the main target of the Nagorik Committee is not to hold elections but ensure the mass killers to be prosecuted.

Regarding the UN report’s recommendation of not to ban the Awami League, spokesperson Samantha Sharmin said, “The supporters of fascism are still active in the country. We are observing the despicable attempts not to ban the Awami League. The nation will remember those who make such attempts”.
