SYLHET, Feb 14, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizens' Committee (NCC) member secretary Akhtar Hossain has said they want such a political arrangement that would be unbiased and based on the principle of justice.
"There would be no room for Baksal and fascism in that arrangement. The people of Bangladesh will no longer allow any political party here that only serves India. They (people) will not allow perverts like Awami League men who have committed crimes against humanity, to do politics in this country. Awami League's registration as a political party has to be cancelled and it has to be banned," he said.
He was addressing as chief guest the NCC Sylhet divisional representative meeting at Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium in the Rikabibazar area of the city Thursday evening (February 13).
Warning the people who want to legitimise the Awami League's politics of killings under the banner of prominent citizens, Akhtar said the country's people are enough to deal with such people.
"I just attended the Namaj-e-Janaza of one of my brothers in Gazipur yesterday. The body of another martyr (Md Hasan) of the July-August uprising was identified today, and the soil of the graves of my martyr brothers is still fresh. Despite these, some cultural fascists are doing politics for the ghosts of Sheikh Hasina under the banner of prominent citizens. We will see those who want to legitimize the Awami League's politics of killing, on the streets," he added.
National Citizens' Committee spokesperson Samantha Sharmin in her speech called for destroying the fascist infrastructures and implementing people's dream for the new political arrangement.
"We need an ideal administrative infrastructure for this. We are emphasizing building the state besides forming the party. The youths should stand up for this," Sharmin, who was addressing the function as a special guest, said.
Presided over by the National Citizens' Committee Sylhet Metropolitan organizer Dr Hossain Ahmed, and conducted by Azhar Uddin Khan, the meeting was also addressed by Arefin Md Hizbullah, Abdullah Al Amin, Dyuti Arun Chowdhury, Sadia Farzana Dina, Arpita Shyma Deb, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement central coordinator Asadullah Al Galib, its district president Akter Hossain and Maleka Khatun Sara, among others.
