CUMILLA, Feb 15, 2025 (BSS) - Central Convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Hasnat Abdullah today hoped that all the countrymen will live together peacefully and practice their respective religious rites freely.

"We want a Bangladesh where people of all religions would be able to practice their religious rites freely. We want a Bangladesh where everyone will live in peace under the shade of Islam," he told the historic '77th Annual Isale Sawab Mahfil 2025' at Debidwar upazila in the district.

"We don't want a Bangladesh where the microphone is taken away from the scholars and where scholars are arrested and put in jails. We don't want such situation where the mahfil is closed if they recite from the Quran and Hadith and where corruption, violence, disappearances and murder take place as daily occurrences," he observed.

Prominent scholars of the country also spoke in the mahfil while Pir Mufti Enayet Ullah Abbasi of Jainpur delivered Islamic sermons as the main discussant.
