CHATTOGRAM, Feb 15, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court seized a total of 1,672 empty gas cylinders and a pick-up van from a warehouse at Chandanaish Sadar upazila  in the district on Saturday afternoon .

A mobile court of Chandanaish upazila seized the cylinders along with a pick-up van on charges of “ Cross filling” during a midnight raid at the warehouse by an Army team at about 12.30 a.m last night.   

None was arrested as the owner and employees of the warehouse of local M/S Nusrat Enterprise escaped the spot after sensing the presence of law enforcement agencies.

Upazila Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Diplomacy Chakma said local business firm M/S Nusrat Enterprise has been involved in “cross filling” which means filling gas from filled one into empty cylinders illegally and riskily.  The trader then supplies those to retail traders for sale by pasting stickers of different authorized companies.
