Ex-MP Sanowar Hossain among 3 AL leaders held

DHAKA, Feb 16, 2025 (BSS) - Police  arrested three Awami League (AL) leaders including former Awami League lawmaker from Tangail-5 constituency Md Sanowar Hossain   in connection with  attack on the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at capital’s Bhatara area today .
The other two arrestees are - Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila AL vice president Md Abu Musa Ansari (56) and Md Salauddin Salek alias Salek Dhali (58), vice president of Bhatara Thana ward number 40.

Police said they arrested them in a special operation from 11:30 pm last night to 3:30 am today from Bhatara area.

They said Mithun Fakir (28), a participant in the Anti-Discrimination Movement was injured in an attack on August 5, 2024.
 
Later, he filed a case with Bhatara police station on December 19, 2024.

The arrested Md Salauddin Salek alias Salek Dhali, ex-MP Md Sanowar Hossain and Md Abu Musa Ansari were wanted in the case, police said.

With the help of intelligence information and technology Bhatara police in a special drive arrested Sanowar Hossain and Abu Musa Ansari from Bashundhara residential area while Md Salauddin Salek from Chulmaid area.

The arrestees have been sent to the court,  the sources said.
