NARAYANGANJ, Feb 16, 2025 (BSS) - Chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee Sarjis Alam today said the next election must be held in a free, fair and transparent manner in the country's history.

"If any political party wins 300 seats in the election, we will have no objection . . . The elections should be free and transparent. There should be an election keeping the aspirations of the mass uprising," he said while addressing the campaign "New Bangladesh in Your Eyes" held at a resort here.

Sonargaon upazila units of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement jointly organised the meeting.

Sarjis said killer Hasina has left the country in fear. But this killer Hasina and some of her beneficiaries have been instigating people from abroad.

He urged all not to follow anyone blindly; rather criticise everyone rationally.

Mentioning that the students are not power-oriented, he said, "As soon as the victory was confirmed on August 5, we spoke to the heads of all political parties in Bangladesh. We spoke to the victims of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. . .. So, now we are not looking at the power. We are looking at the people of the country."

Sarjis insisted that the post-uprising new political party will be open for people of all age, religion, opinion and class.
