Ex-minister Farhad’s wife Monalisa arrested, taken on 3 day remand

MEHERPUR, Feb 17, 2025 (BSS)  –  Syeda Monalisa Islam Shila, wife of former Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain, was arrested on Sunday evening  from her New Eskaton residence here.

Monalisa, a Vice-President of Juba Mohila League Central Executive Committee, was arrested in connection with a case related to local Anti-discrimination Students’ Movement.
Police and court sources said Monalisa was arrested on Sunday evening and produced before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate-1 today. Later, police prayed for granting her seven days remand.

Sharmin Nahar, Senior Judicial Magistrate of Meherpur court after hearing both the sides, granted her three day police remand and shown her arrested in another case filed by one Poly Khatun of the area.

Court Inspector Manosh Ranjon Das told journalists that Monalisa has been accused in a case filed with the Anti-Terrorism Tribunal. She was also accused in another case for her alleged involvement in instigating terrorist attacks on the processions of anti-discrimination students’ movement here.

Public Prosecutor Saidur Razzak and Court Inspector Manosh Ranjon Das moved for the state while Advocate Ibrahim Shahin moved for the accused.
