Verdict in inspector Mamun murder case on March 5

DHAKA, Feb 18, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court has fixed March 5 for delivering its verdict against Arav Khan along with seven others in the murder case of police inspector Mamun.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain today fixed the verdict's date after hearing closing arguments by the prosecution and defence.
 
The accused in the case were gold trader Rabiul Islam alias Arav Khan, Suraya Akter Keya, Rahmat Ullah, Swapan Sarkar, Mizan Sheikh, Atik Hasan, Sarwar Hasa and Didar Pathan.

According to case details, police inspector Mamun was killed at Banani on July 7, 2018. Three days after the killing, a murder case was filed with Banani Police Station following a complaint lodged by his brother Jahangir.

After the investigation, on March 31, 2019 the police submitted a charge sheet in the court against eight people, including Rahmat Ullah and Rabiul Islam.

On November 25, 2021, the court ordered the trial to begin by forming a complaint in the case.

During the trial of the case, a total of 38 witnesses gave testimony in the court.
