Court rejects bail of ex-BFIU Chief Masud Biswas in corruption case

DHAKA, Feb 20, 2025(BSS) - The Metropolitan Sessions Court today rejected the bail of Masud Biswas, former Chief of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of Bangladesh Bank in connection with a corruption case.

The lawyer of Masud Biswas today moved a bail petition before the court of Metropolitan Sessions Judge Zakir Hossain Galib where the prosecution side of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) opposed the move. 

The court after hearing the arguments of both the sides rejected the bail petition of Masud Biswas.

Earlier on January 17, a team of the ACC led by its Deputy Director Md Gulshan Anwar, arrested Masud Biswas from his Senpara-Porbota residence in Mirpur. The court on January 18 sent him to jail. 

on January 2, the ACC filed a corruption case against Masud Biswas for grabbing illegal wealth and properties which is contrary to his known source of income.

In the allegation, the ACC said Masud Biswas amazed and possessed illegal wealth and properties worth about Taka 1,87,72,622 during his service in the central bank.
