Fugitive accused held from Kashimpur

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS) – Police have arrested a fugitive accused from Khashimpur in connection of Shafin Hossain Shohel murder case in the capital’s Dakshinkhan area.

The arrested Ahmmed, 27, is the main accused in the murder case that occurred over establishing supremacy centering dish (satellite cable TV) and garbage removal businesses, said a media release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today.

It said Ahmed was arrested after conducting a raid in the Sardaganj area of Kashimpur police station in Gazipur at 8:15 pm on Monday.

Police said victim Shafin Hossain Sohel's mother Hakimun Nahar filed a murder case with Dakshinkhan police station as the plaintiff on October 29 last year.

According to the complaint, on October 27 last year at approximately 7:15 pm, Ahmed and some others, who were arrested, swooped on victim Shohel in front of his business
establishment in Chalaban Moushair area of Dakshinkhan and hit him indiscriminately with sharp weapon including Chinese axe, leaving him seriously injured.

Local people rushed him to a hospital, and from there, he was later taken to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) (Pangu Hospital). On October 28, last year, victim Shafin Hossain Sohel died while undergoing treatment.
