DHAKA, March 13, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel embargo on former director general (DG) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Maj Gen (retd) Md Shafeenul Islam and his wife Soma Islam.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a petition of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC in its plea said the commission is probing allegations of amassing illegal wealth by the former BGB DG through misuse of power, and other types of corruption. At this stage, the two accused can fled the country to evade justice and that is why travel ban should be imposed on them.
