18 Rohingyas rescued in Cox's Bazar, one arrested

DHAKA, March 13, 2025 (BSS) - Police have rescued 18 Rohingyas while they were being trafficked to Malaysia through Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the Kachhapia Marine Drive beach area under Baharchhara union and rescued them apart from arresting a trafficker.

Among the rescued Rohingyas, five are children, 11 female, and two male, police said, adding the arrested has been identified as Nezam Uddin, a resident of Baharchhara Hajam Para in Teknaf.

The rescued Rohingyas are residents of various Rohingya camps in the Ukhiya and Teknaf areas, said Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Muhammad Gias Uddin.

Legal actions are underway in this regard, he added.
