DHAKA, March 17, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said the discontent and uncomfortable situation that have arisen in the country are the outcome of Sheikh Hasina's misrule.

"For the past 16 years, Sheikh Hasina's rule was a safe haven for criminals. Rapists, money launderers, smugglers, drug dealers, mafia gangs and casino owners had a rampant dominance in the society," he said.

Rizvi was addressing a protest rally organized by the Mohila Dal in Naya Paltan here demanding trial of rapists across the country. After the rally, a protest procession was brought out from there.

The BNP leader demanded a free and fair election to allow the people to exercise their voting rights to elect their representatives.

Speaking as the chief guest, BNP Standing Committee member Selima Rahman said,
“You have seen that, starting from Nusrat Parul, women have been raped one after another during the last fascist government, those who raped them have not been tried even those, who murdered them have not been tried. No justice has been done for these.”
