ACC starts investigation on Salman’s Covid-19 vaccine graft allegation

DHAKA, Mar 17, 2025 (BSS)- The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started an investigation against Beximco Pharma Vice-Chairman Salman Rahman for his alleged involvement in embezzling Taka 22,000 crore from the state in the name of purchasing the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) vaccine. 

ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhter Hossain told the newsmen at a briefing at ACC headquarters here today. 

Akhter said the cost of distributing the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine imported from India was shown Taka 40,000 crore as cost, but the actual cost of it was Tk 18,000 crore.

“The remaining amount of Taka 22,000 crore was embezzled by Salman F Rahman and his syndicate,” the ACC official added. 

Earlier, on December 19 last year, the ACC started investigating into the allegations of obtaining illegal wealth against Salman F Rahman.
