Savar, Mar 20, 2025 (BSS) – Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have urged everyone to be cautious of fraudulent messages being circulated using the name and photo of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Kamrul Ahsan.

In a press release issued today, Mohammad Mahiuddin, the acting director of JU’s Public Relations Office, cautioned that an unidentified individual has been sending misleading messages via WhatsApp, using the number 01303501885. Some of these messages are derogatory while some are requesting to send money.

The university administration clarified that the phone number does not belong to the Vice-Chancellor. They suspected that it is a deliberate attempt to tarnish the reputation of the VC.

A general diary has been filed with Ashulia Police Station, and authorities are working to identify the person behind the scam.

The university administration urged students, faculty and the public to be cautious of calls or messages from the mentioned number and to report them to the authorities immediately.
