DHAKA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - The Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended former Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Nazmul Islam for professional misconduct and desertion.

"The ministry has suspended former DC Nazmul Islam from the service on charges of 'misconduct' and 'desertion," according to a ministry notification signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani.

The notification, issued yesterday, said Islam, Superintendent of Police, attached to the Range Office of Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Barishal, had been absent from duty without permission since April 23, 2025.

He was suspended temporarily from service under Section 3 (Kha) and 3 (Ga) and Sub-rule 12 (1) of the Government Service Act, 2018, the notification said.
