7 Hizb ut-Tahrir men remanded in anti-terrorism act case

DHAKA, March 22, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed seven members of
banned Hizb ut-Tahrir on a four-day remand each in a case lodged under anti-
terrorism act with Dhanmandi Police Station.

The remanded accused are Md Araf Ibrahim, Md Zubayer, Nishan, Sakib Hasan,
Zaved, Abrar and Mahfuzul Hasan.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M A Azharul Islam passed the order as police
produced the seven before the court and pleaded to place them on a 10-day
remand each in the case.

Police arrested them from Dhanmandi area on March 21.

According to case documents, 140-150 members of Hizb ut-Tahrir brought out a
rally in front of Dhanmandi Baitul Aman Mosque at around 2.15 pm on March 21.

They chanted different anti-government and anti-state slogans. The accused
broke a police barricade and started moving towards Dhanmandi Club Field,
creating panic among the passersby.

The accused also attacked police when the law enforcers tried to obstruct
them.
