DMP detains 219 people during drive across city

Dhaka, March 23, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained 219 people during a citywide security drive, conducting extensive patrols and check posts as part of its ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.

According to the DMP’s Crime Command and Control Centre, DMP personnel deployed 667 patrol teams and operated 71 check posts across the capital city Dhaka during the period starting from 12:01am to 11:59pm on Saturday and detained a total of 219 persons for their involvement in criminal activities.

Of the total patrol teams, 340 were on duty at night, while 327 operated during the day. The teams included 479 mobile patrol units, 73 foot-patrol squads, and 115 motorcycle teams. The 71 police check posts were set up at key locations to strengthen security measures.

During the drives, law enforcers seized various homemade weapons, 29 mobile phones, a motorcycle, two private cars, cosmetics worth Tk 121,450, and Tk 3,225 in cash. Additionally, a significant quantity of drugs was recovered.

 A total of 56 cases have been filed at different police stations in connection with the arrests and seizures.
