DHAKA, May 11, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has stood by young Salman, who was shot during the July Uprising on August 5.

The 21-year-old Mohammad Salman, a first-year honors student, was shot in Alupatti, Rajshahi.

Salman is at risk of permanent paralysis or death as the bullet is lodged in a very sensitive area, with his kidneys on both sides and his bladder below.

Despite two consecutive operations, the bullet could not be removed.

When the matter came to the attention of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam inquired about the treatment of the bullet-injured Salman on his advice.

Today after inquiring about Salman's physical condition at Shahbagh, he delivered the financial assistance of the BNP Acting Chairman to him.

At the same time, the process of taking necessary measures for his advanced treatment was initiated.

Dr. Rafiq took advanced treatment arrangements for him at Bangladesh Medical University (formerly PG Hospital). Tomorrow, Monday, a medical board consisting of eminent doctors will be formed to determine the next steps for his treatment.

Former Health Affairs Assistant-Secretary of Jubo Dal Dr. Md. Jahangir Hossain and some doctors were present.
