DHAKA, June 2, 2025 (BSS) – A Dhaka court has granted bail to Anwara Begum, a retired professor of Jagannath University (JnU) and a freedom fighter in a case filed against her allegedly for attempting to murder Sujan Mollah, the former general secretary of JnU unit Chhatra Dal, during July uprising in 2024.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Minhazur Rahman gave the order after hearing on a bail petition today.

Following arguments from her legal team, the court granted her bail upon submission of a Tk 500 bond (Muchleka).

The bail was granted till the submission of police investigation report.

Anwara Begum was arrested by Sutrapur police on May 28 from Jagannath University premises.

As police produced her before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman next day, the court ordered to send her to jail.
