DHAKA, June 3, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today imposed a travel ban on former Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain and his wife Monalisa Islam over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC's plea stated that it is investigating the couple for amassing illegal wealth and purchasing property in Canada with illicit funds. During the probe, the ACC found information of the accused and their associates acquiring agricultural land, flats and plots.

"It was learned that Farhad and Monalia are trying to hand over their ill-gotten properties and flee the country. So, travel ban should be imposed on them immediately," the plea added.

Meanwhile, the same court also imposed a travel ban former Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed over allegations of adding names of 55,310 Rohingya people in voter lists through corruption and misuse of power.
