Over Tk 2.75cr toll collected on Jamuna Bridge in last 24 hours

TANGAIL, May 3, 2025 (BSS) – The Jamuna Bridge authorities have collected over Taka 2.75 crore in tolls in the last 24 hours till midnight last night as vehicular through the bridge has witnessed a rise just before the 10-day public holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Executive Engineer of Jamuna Sight Office Ahsanul Kabir Pavel confirmed this to BSS, saying that the amount was collected from 30,167 vehicles. 

“30,167 vehicles crossed the bridge in 24 hours from 12:00 am on Sunday, June 1 to 12:00 am on Monday, June 2. Of these, 15,398 vehicles headed for North Bengal,” he added. 

On the other hand, he said, 14,769 vehicles headed for Dhaka direction. 

Pavel said there is no traffic jam despite the increase of the pressure of vehicles on the highway. To avoid the traffic jam, 18 toll booths have been set up for cars and heavy vehicles like trucks and busses. Four separate booths have been set up for motorcycles, he added. 

He said two wreckers have been kept in the bridge area to clear the bridge in case of any accident.
