Court attaches 2 houses of ex-MP Bakul, freezes 10 accounts

DHAKA, June 3, 2025(BSS) - A court here today ordered to attach two houses of former lawmaker from Natore-1 constituency Shahidul Islam Bakul for the sake of smooth investigation of corruption allegations against him.

Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order instructing the concerned authorities to freeze his 10 bank accounts for the same following a petition submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Deputy Director, Public Relations of the ACC Aktaerul Islam quoting the petition told journalists that the anti-graft body during its investigation found huge illegal wealth including two three-storey buildings at Rajabazar area under Tejgaon Thana. 

The anti-graft body came to know through a competent source that the former Member of Parliament may transfer his moveable and immovable properties to avoid investigation. For the sake of investigation, his properties should be attached and his bank accounts should be freezed. 

The court after hearing the petition of the ACC ordered to attach the houses of Bakul and freeze his bank accounts.
