CHATTOGRAM, June 3, 2025 (BSS)- A court here today has rejected the bail petition of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesman for the Sammilito Sanatani Jagaran Jote, in five separate cases, including the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique rejected all five bail petitions after a hearing on Tuesday, said Assistant Public Prosecutor Md Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury.
Chinmoy's lawyer, Apurba Kumar Ghosh, has requested bail on the grounds of health issues and the necessity of medical treatment.
However, after the hearing, the court denied bail in all five cases.
Chinmoy led a large gathering of the Sanatan community in Chattogram on October 25, 2024.
A few days later, on October 31, a sedition case was filed against him and 18 others for allegedly disrespecting the national flag. Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested in Dhaka in connection with the sedition case on November 25 ,2024.
