3 held with fake notes worth Tk one lakh in Gulishtan

  DHAKA, June 3, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police on Monday netted three individuals along with counterfeit currency worth about Taka one lakh from the capital's Gulishtan area.

     The arrested have been identified as Md. Sagar,30, Md. Al Amin Howlader,28, and Babu Matbar,54. 

     The trio was apprehended from in front of Gulishtan Shopping Complex under Paltan Police Station area around 7.30 pm on Monday, confirmed deputy commissioner of DB Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

     A case under the Special Powers Act was registered with Paltan Police Station in this connection. 

     DB sources said that the arrestees had been selling various types of fake notes in shops and business establishments in various districts of Bangladesh including the capital for a long time in order to gain financial benefits. 

     They were planning to sell a large quantity of fake notes ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, DB said. 

     The detainees have previous criminal records as they were accused in numerous criminal cases filed with different police stations.
