DHAKA, June 3, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Dr Shafiqur Rahman has called on the Election Commission to ensure voting rights for expatriate Bangladeshis ahead of the next national election.

"Our expatriates played crucial roles during the July Mass Uprising. However, they are still deprived of their voting rights. The voting rights of nearly one crore expatriates must be granted before the next national election," Dr Shafiq said, urging the Election Commission to take necessary steps.

The Jamaat Amir made these remarks during a press conference at the Sheraton Hotel in the capital's Banani following the Supreme Court's verdict on the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami as a political party.

Dr Shafiqur Rahman said, "Jamaat had not violated any conditions under which its registration was granted."

The Jamaat Amir also expressed his party's determination to fight against corruption and misrule continuously.
